Theatre and Film Department
Branch of the Katowice History Museum
About the Branch
In 2010, the City Hall handed over to the Museum of Katowice History a furnished flat at 11 Kopernika Street which was to become a branch of the Museum, housing the Theatre and Film Department. The married couple who had occupied the flat for over 30 years, living and pursuing their artistic careers there, were Barbara Ptak, a renowned film and theatre costume designer, and Stanisław Ptak, an eminent singer, one of the pioneers of musical acting in Poland. On 19 November 2011, a permanent exhibition ”Barbara and Stanisław Ptaks Museum” was officially opened and then, on 10 January 2013, ”Galeria pod 11” – a space for temporary exhibitions was made accessible to the viewers.
